When the Android Pie was officially released by Google some weeks ago, Nokia was one of the few OEMs to announce which of its devices will be getting the update over-the-air. While it mentioned that all of it phones will be getting the Android 9 Pie update, it hinted the flagships that would be having the taste of the Pie first.
Nokia 7 Plus users have received Beta update of the Pie OS a couple of weeks ago, making them the first Nokia users to have a taste of Google’s Pie. A couple of hours ago, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas, announced that the Android Pie is have started rolling out to Nokia 6.1 Plus.
This is in line with the Finnish company’s promise that it would be sending Android 9 updates to all its phones with the Snapdragon 600-series system-on-chip this month.
Users of the Nokia 6.1 Plus have confirmed receiving the Android 9 Pie Beta update on their devices alongside October’s security patch. The update likewise brings onboard features of the Pie OS like new system navigation, new settings menu and more.
According to reports, it is believed that the Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8, and Nokia 8 Sirocco are the next Nokia flagships in line for an Android 9 update. However, seeing that the Nokia 6.1 Plus now runs the Android 9, it shouldn’t be long before Nokia rolls out the OS to the Nokia 6.1 too.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 5.8-inch 1080P notched display, Snapdragon 636 CPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB built-in storage, dual 16MP + 5MP rear camera, 16MP front-facing camera, and 3,060 mAh battery.
